Halloween Safety

The wicked witch and Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) could be the least of your Halloween safety concerns for this holiday!

Just a couple of Halloween safety tricks so you can enjoy your treats:

  • Never trick or treat alone.
  • Use reflective tape on costumes and bags to help drivers see you.
  • Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them.
  • Only eat factory-wrapped treats: do not enter the home of a stranger.
  • Never walk near lit candles or luminaries.
  • Wear a flame-resistant costume.

Be safe this Halloween when you go trick or treating!

Thank you Karen for giving back at the Night to Shine event on Friday, February 8, 2019!

“Each year Night to Shine is hosted at our church venue for special needs children and adults. It has been quite an honor the last 3 years to have the opportunity to love on each and every one of them in our surrounding community! This past Friday, GPS allowed me to give more time to this cause and I got to assist the kitchen with food prep. It was such a blessing! Thank you GPS!!!” ~ Karen Taylor

“About Harvest Hope

We distributed 27.8 MILLION meals to provide hunger relief for individuals in our service area in fiscal year 2017

The mission of Harvest Hope Food Bank is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education.

Harvest Hope began in 1981 as the result of a shared vision of business leaders and the faith community who set out to provide for the hungry in Columbia. Since then Harvest Hope has increased its mission to feed the hungry across 20 counties of South Carolina. Harvest Hope distributed over 27.8 million meals last year and fed approximately 38,000 people a week.

From our simple beginnings, Harvest Hope has continued to increase the scope of its operations and now provides food, comfort and hope to hungry individuals and families in the Midlands, Pee Dee and Greater Greenville regions of South Carolina.”

PINK Out with Gallman Consulting!

PINK Out with Gallman Consulting in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Take Action!

By Jeanne Croteau via Forbes.com

“Every October, a sea of pink surrounds us in the form of ribbons, hoodies emblazoned with inspirational quotes and even on the uniforms of professional athletes. Unless you’ve been personally affected by breast cancer, though, does the significance of this month really register? Are you using the opportunity to learn more and do more?

If the answer is no, you’re probably not alone. Good health is a luxury that many people take for granted so it’s not surprising that so many walk past the displays without even pausing — but we should. We all should.

Sobering Statistics

Did you know that about 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime? This year alone, it’s estimated that 266,120 will be diagnosed along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. Tragically, more than 40,000 will lose their battle in 2018.

It’s not just women, either. Approximately 2,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be
diagnosed in men this year, also — this is something we should all care about.”
